Dear Saishu-kai friends

We have moved from Ohio to California last September and settled down in San Francisco bay area. Our new home address and phone are as follows:

Address: 2458 Michele Jean Way, Santa Clara, CA 95050, USA

Telephone: (408) 615-8120

Email: chinholee@hotmail.com - same as before

The weather here is excellent. No snow shoveling is needed here. We have spring, summer, and autumn only, and there is no icy-cold winter here.

Our children live in the nearby cities. Now we can take care of each other more conveniently. We now have a total of four grand children, our son has three boys (age, 1.5, 3, and 5) and our daughter has a girl (age 2). It is fun to see the kids grow fast.

I finished all my consulting jobs last September and have been enjoying total retirement life ever since. Now, playing golf, surfing internet, and visiting with my children are my main daily jobs. My wife and I also enjoy traveling to Taiwan, about once every 4-6 months. We stay there for about 4-6 weeks every time we go there. We enjoy visiting relatives and friends there and traveling with them either within Taiwan or to the neighboring countries.

My wife and I are lucky to be relatively healthy. So that we can do the thing we like to do, such as traveling oversea and playing golf, etc. We play golf together 1-2 times a week in the Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club, a city-owned facility. The golf course is an 18-hole course with a total yardage of about 6,000 – 6800 for men. It is relatively flat but long course, and is not so difficult to play through. Since we are city residence we are allowed to buy Senior Pass ($90 per month), which allows us to play unlimited golf (18 holes per day) Monday through Friday. Without the Pass, the green fee is $20 for senior residence. So it is a good saving to buy Senior Pass and to play more than once a week. This past month, we have bought the Senior Pass and have been playing two rounds each week. To tell the truth, two rounds per week are about as much as our physical conditions can take at our age. We will continue playing using the Senior Pass, when we are not traveling and as long as our physical conditions allow us to do so.

My golf technique has not improved as hoped. My consistency remains the weakest area needs to be improved, although my endurance improves a lot. Golf is a fun sport and we both like it. So we will continue playing.

This past April, my wife and I joined a group of about 30 relatives and friends to tour West Japan (Kansai). It was an 8-day tour. Our main purposes were to see the International Exposition and the cherry blossom. We toured the Wakayama peninsular, Ise shrine, Nagoya, Ohmi, Kyoto, and Osaka. I have very good time during the tour, eating Japanese breakfast and Kaisheki dinner everyday. The cherry blossom in Kyoto shrines and gardens and in Osaka Zoheki-kyoku (The Bureau of Currency Manufacturing) was fabulous, which gave me unforgettable enjoyment.

At this point in our life, taking good care of our own health is our number one priority. Over the years, I have come to the realization that eating simple, moderate foods and doing some kind of regular exercise are best ways to keep our body healthy. It is also important to feel happy everyday, because if I am unhappy I am not healthy, even though my physical conditions are OK.

Recently, it was sad to hear the bad news about the pass away of two of our Saishu-kai friends, Zengo Yoshida and Kozi Arakawa. I hope that the rest of us all will take good care of ourselves from now on. Let us do the best we can, OK?

Anybody comes to San Francisco bay-area, please give me a call. Please come to see us. My wife and I can take you to play one round of golf in our course. This is an open invitation.
